最後に、独立の気運が高まるスコットランドについて「少し前にスコットランドはイギリスに残るべきかどうかを投票しました。残留派の主な主張の一つが、EUを通してのヨーロッパ諸国との繋がりです。スコットランド人はイングランド人よりも国際的な協力というものを信じています。Breaxitの選挙後に、スコットランドはイギリスを離脱するための選挙の実施を模索するでしょう」と話した。 　こうして思い出されるのは昨年、日本で史上最大規模の住民投票となった「大阪都構想」だろう。大阪市を廃止し、5つの特別区に分割する「都構想」の賛否を問う住民投票で、賛成は69万4844票、反対は70万5585票だった。反対が賛成をわずか1万741票上回る結果で、日本国内に衝撃が走ったことは記憶に新しい。 　日本でも参院選の期日前投票が始まっている。イギリスの行方はまだわからないが、「こんなはずじゃなかった」と後悔しないためにも、まずは自らの頭で考え、自身が納得できる投票をすることが大切だろう。　＜取材・文／北村篤裕＞ 以下、ケンブリッジ大学に通うEU残留派の学生のコメント原文 ※1．I voted for staying in the EU. I have many European friends and British friends in Europe. No one knows what will happen from now, but it’s a shame the leave vote won. Many British people are scared of immigrants, especially Muslim immigrants and felt the only way to stop it was to leave the EU. I think they are being selfish and foolish but unfortunately the uneducated are the majority. ※2．The initial shock was pretty bad for the world economy, but I think it’s just a knee-jerk reaction and people will realise not that much has changed (yet). ※3．I don’t personally know anyone that voted for leave actually. Being abroad means I haven’t talked to many people in the UK for a while. People in London and Cambridge voted heavily in favour of remain though.The sad thing is many of the older generation won’t even be alive to properly see the effect of the changes. And the young generation are the worst at participating in the vote. ※4．Not so long ago Scotland voted whether they should stay in the UK or not. One of the main arguments for staying was connection to the rest of Europe through the EU. They seem to believe in international cooperation more than England does. After this brexit vote it’s likely Scotland looks to vote to leave the uk again.
